Flowers in the Village

Inspired by the beautiful hanging baskets in the villages & towns throughout the area, this pattern is a modern update to the classic lace sock. With a danity lace panel on the outside of each foot, this sock brings together vintage lace knitting and a contemporary feel.

Designer Notes

This pattern came from a very simple inspiration, make my sister Carla a pair of socks for her birthday.  Birthday socks have  become a fond tradition for me, and it's even more fun when I get to design a pattern that suits the members of my family.

For Carla, the socks I knit had to be classic and stylish, she has always been the classier sister.  However, they also had to be thoroughly modern and tidy. With those two the aspects came together into the Vintage Lace Socks.

For the socks I opted for single repeat of a lace panel down the outside of each foot. I love the look of asymmetrical socks, they somehow feel extra classy.  And while the lace is patterned on every row, because it is knit in the round, there is not a p2tog-tbl in sight.
